The new KY sales tax law requires a prescription, to be exempt from the 6% sales tax as medically necessary. A primary care provider, chiropractor, etc. must write a prescription for an amount of time (example: January 1, 2023, - December 31, 2024). Diagnoses are not required on the prescription. It must only show a time frame.

Massage sessions to support physical and mental health remain tax free, with a current prescription. FSA and HSA payments will continue to be accepted.
